Model 2461
Interactive SourceMeter® Instrument Reference Manual Section 3:
Functions and features
2461-901-01 A/November 2015 3-65
The Model 2461 pulse mode gives you the ability to make pulsed I-V measurements using the front
panel or over a remote interface. Typical pulse settings you can configure on the Model 2461 include:
Bias level and limits: The source value and limits at the base of the pulse
Pulse level and limits: The source value and limits at the top of the pulse
Pulse width: The duration of the pulse
Delay time: The amount of time at the bias level before each pulse
Off time: The amount of time at the bias level after each pulse
Pulse measurements: If using measure, enable or disable measurement at the top of each
pulse. If using digitizer, enable or disable waveform digitizing.
Pulse sweep type: Pulse train, linear pulse sweep using points or steps, logarithmic pulse
sweep, dual linear or logarithmic pulse sweep, and list sweep
Bias level and limits
The pulse bias level is the output level the instruments sources before the first pulse and returns to in
between pulses (delay and off time). You can set the bias level of the Model 2461 from -7.35 A to
7.35 A for current and -105 V to 105 V for voltage.
Figure 116: Pulse bias level
The bias level must be within the normal DC operating boundaries, and it must be low enough that it
does not exceed the power settings that affect the pulse limit and bias limit.
The bias limit also must be within the normal DC operating boundaries. For the Model 2461, the bias
limit can be from 10 nA to 7.35 A for current and 2 mV to 105 V for voltage.
The bias limit is affected by either the maximum pulse level or bias level setting whichever is
greater in magnitude.
For more information about Model 2461 operating boundaries, see Operating boundaries (on page 4-
4).
