PROCEDURE
1 Loosen the bolts (005, 007, 008 and 010) from the bearings (004, 006, 009, 011).
NOTE: Loosen only the bearings of the top gear wheel if the backlash of the bottom
gear wheel (003, Figure 12-15) and pinion of the electric motor (001) is in the
specified limits, refer to section 3.3 Clearances - general.
2 Remove the taper pins (not shown) from the gear wheels (001, 002).

3 Attach the two alignment tool (003, Figure 12-16) with screws (004) to the front and rear
of the top bearings (007).
4 Torque the four screws (004) to 280 Nm.
5 Tighten equally the four screws (002).
6 Turn equally the two screw (008) to lift the top gear wheel (007) sufficiently to move the
load off the bottom gear wheel (006). Make sure that the top gear wheel stays level.
7 Adjust the backlash between the pinion of the electric motor (005) and the bottom gear
wheel (006).
8 To measure the backlash, refer to section 12.2.8 Integrated electric balancer - do a
check of the backlash.
