Initial Issue
Status Indicator RAPs
010-355 Fuser Overheat Error RAP
The sensed Fuser Temperature has exceeded the maximum allowable temperature. A Fuser
Overheat error was declared.
Initial Actions
Inspect the Fuser area (especially around the Temperature Sensor) for any damage, foreign
material, debris or other signs of wear, breakage or excessive heat damage. Perform any nec-
essary cleaning or maintenance in the Fuser area. If the problem persists, continue with this
RAP.
NOTE: The Thermal Fuse and the Thermostat are physically located on the Upper Plate (PL
8.2).
Procedure
Remove the Rear Cover REP 14.6. Switch off the Copier/Printer and disconnect the power
cord. Continuity is measured between J 34-1 and J34-2 on the Low Voltage Power Sup-
ply.
YN
Continuity is measured between J71-1 and J71-2.
YN
Continuity is measured between J 79-1 and J79-2.
YN
Remove the Upper Plate REP 10.4. Check for continuity directly across the
Pressure Roll Heat Lamp and the Heat Roll Heat Lamp. If continuity is NOT
measured, replace the Heat Lamps as required (PL 8.3). Also check for conti-
nuity directly across the Thermal Fuse and the Thermostat. If continuity is NOT
measured across either component, replace the Upper Plate (PL 8.2).
Go to Flag 1. Check for an open circuit. Repair or replace the Fuser Harness (PL
8.5) as required.
Go to Flag 2. Check for an open circuit. Repair or replace the Fuser Connector Harness
or the Main Harness (PL 11.1) as required.
Disconnect the connector from J 32 on the Low Voltage Power Supply (LVPS). An open cir-
cuit (NO continuity) is measured between J32-2 of the disconnected connector and
GND.
YN
A short circuit is causing the ‘Heater On’ signal to be constantly available. Repair or
replace the Main Harness (PL 11.1) as required. If the problem persists, replace the MCU
PWB (PL 11.2).
Reconnect J 32 to the LVPS. Access the Digital Output (DO) test from the Control Panel. Enter
code [47]. Measure the voltage between J 32-2 of the LVPS and GND. Press the Item/Enter
button. The measured voltage is approximately +4.5VDC and momentarily goes to
approximately +3.2VDC, then recovers, when the Item/Enter button is pressed.
YN
Replace the MCU PWB (PL 11.2).
Go to 010-701 Faulty Temperature Sensor RAP to troubleshoot the problem.
