Status Indicator RAPs
011-702 Sorter Cover Open RAP
Sorter Control PWB logic has detected that the Sorter Top Cover is open.
Initial Actions
Switch off the Copier/Printer then switch on the Copier/Printer to try and clear the “Close Sorter
Cover” Message. If the message does not clear or clears momentarily and then returns, con-
tinue with this RAP.
Procedure
Measure the voltage between J 7-1 (+) of the Sorter Control PWB and GND (-). Ensure that the
Top Cover is closed and then opened. The voltage is at first High (+24 VDC) and then
goes Low (0 VDC).

The voltage between J7-1 of the Sorter Control PWB and GND remains High (+24
VDC).

There is +24 VDC between J7-2 of the Sorter Control PWB and GND.

There is +24 VDC between J 8-7 of the Sorter Control PWB and GND.

Go to Flag 2. Check the wires for an open circuit.
The fuse may be blown. Replace the fuse (PL 19.1) on the Sorter Control PWB
with a fuse of the same rating. If the problem persists, replace the Sorter Con-
trol PWB (PL 19.1).
Go to Flag 1. Check the wires for an open circuit. If the wiring is OK, ensure that the
Top Cover physically actuates the Interlock. Replace the Top Cover (PL 19.1) as
required.
Replace the Sorter Control PWB (PL 19.1).
This indicates that the Top Cover and the Top Cover Interlock are working correctly. If the prob-
lem persists, replace the Sorter Control PWB (PL 19.1).
