If youactivateordeactivatethe all-wheel drivein
avehicle withthis option, ASR will be deactivated
forthe duration of theactivation/deactivation
process.
Vehicles without steering wheel buttons: if
ASR is malfunctioning, the ÷ indicator lamp
lights up while theengine is running and the
engine output maybereduced (/ page24).
ASR improvestraction, i.e. thetransfer of power
from thetires to theroad surface, forasustained
period and, thereby, also improvesthe driving
stabilityofthe vehicle. If thedriving wheels start
to spin, ASR brakes individualdrive wheels and
limits theengine torque. ASR thus significantly
assists youwhen pullingawayand accelerating,
especiallyonwet or slippery roads.
If traction on theroad surface is notsufficient,
evenASR will notallow youtopull away without
difficulty. The typeoftires and total weight of the
vehicle as well as thegradient of theroad also
playacrucial role.
If ASRintervenes, the ÷ warning lampinthe
