Wheel size categories of wheels
The determined vehicle speed is displayedinthe
instrument clusterand is important forcontrol‐
ling thedriving safetysystems and driving sys‐
tems. The displayaccuracy of thespeedometer
and theodometerislegally prescribed.Determin‐
ing thespeed is dependent on thetiresize or the
rolling circumferenceofthe tires. The rimdiame‐
terisalwaysspecified in inches.
Forthis reason,the vehicle controlunitscan be
coded forthe following threewheel size catego‐
ries:

Otherwise, thedisplayaccuracy of thespeedom‐
eter and theodometerwillbeoutsidethe legally
prescribed tolerance. It mayalso be lower, i.e.
thecurrent road speed is then higher than the
speed shown on thespeedometer. If adeviation
is outside therangeoftolerance, driving safety
systems and driving systems maybeoperation‐
ally impaired or maydetect amalfunction and
switchthemselves off.
Information on thedirection of thetires' rota‐
tion
Tireswithaspecified direction of rotationhave
additional benefits,e.g.ifthereisarisk of hydro‐
planing. Youwill only gain these benefits if the
correct directionofrotation is observed.
An arrow on thesidewall of thetireindicates its
correct directionofrotation.
Youmay also install asparewheel againstthe
direction of rotation. Observe thetime restriction
on use as well as thespeed limitation specified
on thesparewheel.
Information on storing wheels
Observe thefollowing when storing wheels:
R
Wheels that have been removedshould be
stored in acool, dryand, if possible, dark
place.
