DANGER Risk of poisoningfromexhaust
gases
Combustion engines emit poisonous exhaust
gases, suchascarbon monoxide. Exhaust
gases can enter thevehicle interior if the
rear-enddoor is open when theengine is run‐
ning,especially if thevehicle is in motion.

Alwaysswitchoff theengine before
opening therear-end door.
#
Neverdrive withthe rear-enddoor
open.

WARNING Risk of injury from unsecured
objectsinthe vehicle
When objects areunsecured or inadequately
secured, they can slip, tip overorbethrown
about, striking vehicle occupants.
This also appliesto:

Luggageorloads
R
Seats whichhave been removedand are
being transportedinthe vehicle in an
exceptionalcase
There is arisk of injury, particularly in the
event of braking maneuversorabrupt
changes in direction.

Alwaysstowobjectsinsuchaway that
they cannotbetossed about.
#
Beforetraveling, secureobjects, lug‐
gage or load to prevent them slipping or
tipping over.
#
When aseat is removed, keep it prefera‐
bly outside thevehicle.

WARNING Risk of injury due to objects
being stowedincorrectly
If youdonot adequatelystowobjectsinthe
vehicle interior,theycould sliporbetossed
around and therebystrikevehicle occupants.
In addition, cup holders, open stowage
spaces and mobile phonebracketscannot
always restrain theobjectstheycontaininthe
event of an accident.
There is arisk of injury, particularly in the
event of sudden braking or asuddenchange
in direction.

Alwaysstowobjectsinsuchaway that
they cannotbetossed about in these or
similar situations.
#
Alwaysmakesurethat objects do not
project from stowagespaces, parcel
nets or stowagenets.
#
Close thelockable stowagespaces
beforestarting ajourney.
#
Stow and secureobjectsthat areheavy,
hard, pointed, sharp-edged, fragile or
toolarge in thecargo compartment.

WARNING Risk of burning from thetail‐
pipe or tailpipe trim
The tailpipe and tailpipe trim can become
very hot. If youcomeintocontact with these
car parts, youcouldburnyourself.

Alwaysbeparticularly careful when in
thevicinityofthe tailpipe and tailpipe
trims and supervise children very
closely wheninthis area.
#
Beforeany contact, allowthe car parts
to cool down.
If youare usingaroof rack,please note themaxi‐
mum roof load and themaximum load capacity of
theroof rack.
Youwill find information aboutthe maximum roof
load in the"Technical data" chapterand informa‐
tion aboutroof racksinthe "Carrier systems"
section .
Camera-based driving systems and thesensor
functions of theinside rearviewmirrormay be
impairedifyou aretransporting aload on the
roof and it protrudes morethan 16 in (40 cm)
overthe edgeofthe roof. Therefore, makesure
that theload does notoverhang by morethan
16 in (40 cm).
The handlingcharacteristics of your vehicle are
dependent on theload distribution. Therefore,
please observe thefollowing noteswhen loading:

when transporting aload, neverexceed the
permissible gross mass or thegross axle
weight rating forthe vehicle (including occu‐
pants). The values arespecified on thevehi‐
cle identification plateonthe B-pillar.
R
theload mustnot protrude above theupper
edgeofthe seat backrests.
R
if possible, alwaystransportthe load in the
cargo compartment.
