Accident statisticsshowthat children secured on
therear seats aresafer than children secured on
thefront seats. Forthis reason,Mercedes-Benz
strongly advises that youinstall achild restraint
system on arear seat.
Notesonrearward-facingchild restraint sys‐
tems
The front-passengerfront airbag cannotbedeac‐
tivated. Alwaysinstall arearward-facing child
restraint system on asuitable rear seat,but never
on thefront-passengerseat. Observe themanu‐
facturer's installation and operatinginstructions
forthe child restraint system used.
Notesonforward-facingchild restraint sys‐
tems on the front-passenger seat
Whenusing thechild restraint system on the
front-passenger seat, youmustobservethe fol‐
lowing points:

Setthe front-passengerseat to its rearmost
position.Ifonaseat withseat heightadjust‐
ment, also setthe seat to its highestposition.

Setthe seat backresttoanalmostvertical
position.
R
Retract theseat cushion lengthcompletely.
R
The base of thechild restraint system must
lie fullyonthe front-passengerseat cushion.

The backrestofaforward-facingchild
restraint system must, as faraspossible, lie
flat againstthe backrestofthe front-
passenger seat. The child restraint system
mustnot touchthe roof or be put under strain
by thehead restraints.

If necessary, adjustthe angle of theseat
backrestand theposition of thehead
restraintsaccordingly.

Setthe seat cushion angle in suchaway that
thefront edgeofthe seat cushion is in the
highestposition and therear edgeofthe seat
cushion is in thelowest position.

Alwaysmakesurethat theshoulder belt strap
is correctlyrouted from theseat belt outletof
thevehicle to theshoulder belt guide on the
child restraint system. The shoulder belt strap
mustberouted forwards and downwards
from theseat belt outlet.
