The motion detector transmits invisible radia‐
tion from LEDs(light-emitting diodes).
These LEDsare classified under the1Mlaser
class and can cause retina damage in thefol‐
lowing situations:
R
If youlook directly intothe unfiltered
laser beam from themotion detector for
an extendedperiod
R
If youlook directly intothe laser beam of
themotion detector with optical instru‐
mentssuchaseyeglasses or amagnifying
glass.

Neverlook directly intothe laser beam.
The motion detector is locatedinthe cargo com‐
partment behind thepartition,inthe middle of
theroof.

Position of motion detector
If thevehicle is equipped withamotion detector,
thecargo compartmentlighting is also activated
via themotion detector.
If themotion detector detects movement in the
cargo compartment whilethe vehicle is station‐
ary, thecargo compartmentlighting switches on
forapproximately twominutes.
The cargo compartment lighting can be switched
on via themotion detector if:
R
The vehicle is stationary, theparking brakeis
applied and thebrake pedal is notbeing
depressed.
R
Vehicles with automatic transmission: the
selector leverisinposition j and youare
notdepressing thebrake pedal.
R
The vehicle has notbeen lockedfromthe out‐
side using thekey.
If no changetothe vehicle, suchasadoor open‐
ing, is detected over severalhours, themotion
detector will automatically switchoff.This pre‐
vents thebatteryfromdischarging.
