Information about attachments, add-on
equipment, installations and conversions
Forsafetyreasons, have add-on equipmentpro‐
ducedand assembled in accordancewiththe
valid Mercedes-Benz add-on equipmentguide‐
lines. These add-on equipmentguidelines ensure
that thechassisand add-on equipmentformone
unit and that thegreatestpossible levelofopera‐
tional and driving safetyisachieved.
Both vehicle manufacturersaswell as body man‐
ufacturersmustalwaysensurethat theproducts
manufactured by them come intocirculation only
in asafestate and do notpose anyriskstopeo‐
ple. Otherwise, theremay be consequences
under civil, criminal or public law. All manufactur‐
ersare responsible forthe products that they
have manufactured. The manufacturer of attach‐
ments, add-on equipment, inserts and conver‐
sions mustguarantee compliance with Directive
2001/95/EC on general product safety.
Mercedes-Benz recommends thefollowing for
safetyreasons:

Do notmakeany other changes to thevehi‐
cle.
R
Obtain approval from thedealer named on
theinside title pageinthe event of deviations
from theapprovedadd-on equipment guide‐
lines.
Acceptance testsperformed by public test bodies
or officialapprovals do notrule out safetyrisks.

Even seemingly minor changes to thevehicle,
suchasattaching aradiator grill in winter,are not
permitted. Do notcoverthe radiator.Donot use
anythermal mats, insect protection covers etc.
