If an emergency callisunavailable or mal‐
functioning, amessagetothis effect also
appears in themultifunction displayofthe
instrument cluster.
Triggering an automatic emergency call
Requirements:
R
The ignition is switched on.
R
The starterbatteryhas sufficient charge.
If restraint systems suchasairbags or Emergency
Tensioning Deviceshave been activated afteran
accident, eCall mayautomatically initiate an
emergency call.
The emergency call has been made:
R
Avoice connection is made to theMercedes-
Benz emergency callcenter.
R
Amessage withaccidentdataistransmitted
to theMercedes-Benz emergency callcenter.
The Mercedes-Benz emergency callcenter
can transmit thevehicle position datatoone
of theemergency callcenters.
The SOS button in theoverhead controlpanel
flashes until theemergency callisfinished.
It is notpossible to immediately end an auto‐
matic emergency call.
If no connection can be madetothe emergency
serviceseither, acorresponding message
appears in themedia display.

Dialthe local emergency numberonyour
mobile phone.
If an emergency callhas been initiated:
R
Remain in thevehicle if theroad and traffic
conditions permit youtodosountil avoice
connection is established withthe emergency
call centerservice provider.
R
Based on thecall, theoperator decides
whether it is necessarytocallrescue teams
and/or thepolice to theaccident site.
R
If no vehicle occupant answers, an ambu‐
lance is sent to thevehicle immediately.
Triggering amanual emergency call

Using theSOS buttoninthe overhead con‐
trol panel: press theSOS button at leastone
secondlong.

Using voice control: Use theVoice Control
System Call the Mercedes accident center
voice command (/ page179).
The emergency call has been made:
R
Avoice connection is made to theMercedes-
Benz emergency callcenter.
R
Amessage withaccidentdataistransmitted
to theMercedes-Benz emergency callcenter.
The Mercedes-Benz emergency call center
can transmit thevehicle position datatoone
of theemergency callcenters.
R
Remain in thevehicle if theroad and traffic
conditions permit youtodosountil avoice
connection is established withthe emergency
callcenter service provider.
If no connection can be made to theemergency

wheel. Depress thebutton forseveral sec‐
onds.

GPS position dataonthe route(afew hun‐
dred meters beforethe incident)

Direction of travel

Vehicle identification number

Vehicle drivetype

Whether Mercedes PROconnect is available
or not

Whether theemergency callwas initiated
manually or automatically
R
Time of theaccident
R
Languagesetting on themultimedia system
Breakdown assistance
