Information on theEmergency Call System
Your vehicle is equipped withthe Emergency Call
System ("eCall"). This featurecan help save lives
in theevent of an accident. eCallinnoway repla‐
ces assistance provided from dialing 911.
eCall onlyfunctions in areas wheremobile phone
coverage is available from thewireless service
providers. Insufficient networkcoveragefromthe
wirelessserviceproviders mayresult in an emer‐
gency callnot being transmitted.
eCallisastandardfeatureinyour Mercedes-Benz
vehicle. In order to function as intended, thesys‐
temrelies on thetransmission of datadetailed in
the"Emergency Call System datatransfer" sec‐
tion that follows (/ page279).Todisable eCall,
acustomer mustvisit an authorized Mercedes-
Benz Service department to deactivatethe vehi‐
cle's communication module.
Deactivation of this module prevents theacti‐
vationofany and all Mercedes PROconnect
services. Afterthe deactivationofeCall,auto‐
matic emergency call and manualemergency

Mercedes-Benzdealer.Please note that in
theevent ownershipofthe vehicle is trans‐
ferred to another owner in its deactivated
state, eCall will remain deactivated unless
thenew owner visits an authorized
Mercedes-Benz dealership to reactivatethe
system.
Emergency Call System
eCall can help to reduce thetime between an
accident and thearrival of emergency servicesat
thesiteofthe accident. It helps locateanacci‐
dent siteinplaces that aredifficulttoaccess.
However, evenifavehicle is equipped witheCall,
this does notmean thesystemisON. As such,
eCall does notreplace dialing 911inthe event of
an accident.
The emergency callcan be madeautomatically
(/ page 279) or manually (/ page 279). Only
makeemergency callsifyou or othersare in need
of rescue. Do notmakeanemergency callinthe
