8.3.2 Protected communication
Description
If
the Startdrive project and the converter are unprotected, access is possible via both interfaces.
This enables unrestricted access from the project or a higher-level controller to the converter
data.
Non-authorized users can manipulate the converter data. To avoid the risk of data
manipulation, Siemens recommends that you protect access to the project and the converter.

ation and security
Overview
Startdrive provides the possibility to use user management and access control (UMAC) for
projects. This allows you to create and manage user accounts and roles in your project. The roles
bundle di󹪜erent access rights for the project. Di󹪜erent users can be granted di󹪜erent access
rights to functions. Once the project protection has been activated, the project can only be
opened and edited by authorized users.

• A project has been created or an existing project is open.
