13.1.2.1 Overview of rmware update
Requirement

e update due to voltage supply interruption
When the rmware is being updated, interrupting the power supply or disconnecting the motor
can result in defects or cause the devices to malfunction.
• Do not switch o the converter's supply voltage during rmware update.
Description of function
Firmw
are updates change the settings in the converter according to the relative rmware
version:
• If the converter is upgraded to a more recent rmware version, the converter settings are
retained.
• Downgrading to an older rmware version resets all user-dened settings to factory settings,
including:
– Parameterization of the converter
– Activation and settings of User Management & Access Control
– "IP conguration" and "Device name" communication settings of the service interface
(X127) and PROFINET interface (X150)
– Self-generated certicates
– User-dened parameter lists in the web server

• Firmware update via an SD card (Page589)
• Firmware update via web server (Page215)
• Firmware update via Startdrive (Page309)
13.1.2.2 Firmware update via an SD card
Overview
If you have physical access to your converter, you can update the rmware directly on the
converter by using an SD card.
