Protection of workers from electromagnetic elds is specied in the European EMF Directive
2013/35/EU. This directive is implemented in national law in the European Economic Area (EEA).
Employers are obligated to design workplaces in such a way that workers are protected from
impermissibly strong electromagnetic elds.
To this end, assessments and/or measurements must be performed for workplaces.
Requirement
The following general conditions apply for the evaluations and measurements:
1. The laws for protection from electromagnetic elds in force in individual EU member states
can go beyond the minimum requirements of the EMF Directive 2013/35/EU and always take
precedence.
2. The ICNIRP2010 limits for the workplace are the basis for the assessment.
3. The 26th BImSchV (German Federal Emission Protection Regulation) denes 100μT (RMS)
for the assessment of active implants.
According to Directive 2013/35/EU, 500µT (RMS) at 50Hz is applicable here.
4. The routing of power cables has a signicant impact on the electromagnetic elds that occur.
Install and operate the components inside metallic cabinets in compliance with the
documentation and use shielded motor cables (see "EMC-compliant installation
(Page92)").
Description
The converters are normally used in machines. The assessment and testing is based on
DINEN12198‑1 and IEC62311.
Compliance with the limit values was assessed for the following frequencies:
• Line frequency 47...63Hz
• 8kHz pulse frequency
