CAUTION
Be
sure to tap

e crankcase squarely
on
the piece
of

e sealing surface

e crankcase.
6. Hold the crankcase with the bearing side down
and tap
it
squarely on a
pi
ece of soft wood.

to
tap until
th
e bearing(s)
fa
ll
out. Repeat
for the oth
er
cr
ankcase half.

expensive crankcase dama
ge.

competent machine shop.
7.
Reheat
th
e crankcase half
in
the oven.
8.
Remove the case from the oven and place on
wood
bl
ocks. Hold onto
th
e crankcase with
kit
chen
mi
ll
S
or
heavy glove
s-i
t is hot.
9.
While the crankcase is still hot, press each new
bearing(s)
in
to place
in
the crankcase
by
hand until
it
seats co
mpl
etel
y.
Do not hammer it
in
.
If
the
bearing
will not seat. remove
it
and cool
it
again.
Reheat the crankcase and try
to
in
stall the bearing
again.
10.
On bearings so equipped, install the bear
in
g
re
ta
iner and screws retaini
ng
the ball bearing.
Tighten the screws securel
y.
II.
Oil seals are best insta
ll
ed with a special tool
avai
lable from a Suzuki dealer. However, a proper
size socket or piece
of
pipe can be substituted.
Make sure that the bearings and seals are not
cocked in the crankcase ho
le
a
nd
that they are
seated properly.

disassemble the cra

case as described

chapter.

from the crankshaft. Don't lose the locating pin
on

ckside

the gear.

Remove the s

5. Remove the balancer gear assembly
(Figure
285).
6. Remove the large inner wash
er
(Figure 286).

Withdraw

e balancer sh

t (Fig

e 287) rrom
the crankcase.

Install by reversing these rem
ova
l steps. Note
