the free play; belts tend to wear

stretch more
evenly than chains do, but the free play may not
remain constant over the entire length.

be
adjusted within the
limits,
it
is
eltcessivcly worn and stretched a

should be replaced.

n the rear axle nut to the torque
specification listed
in
Table 5.

tightened securely on each side.

The

level should be between the upper and
lower marks within the reservoir. If the brake

level reaches the lower level mark, visib

through the viewing port (Fig
ur
e 47) on the mas-
ter cylinder reservoir, the nuid level
muSt
be
corrected
by
adding fresh brake fluid.
I. Place the
bi
ke on level ground and position the
handlebars so the front master cylinder reservoir
is
level.
2.
Clean any dirt from the area around the
lOp
cov-
er before removing the cover.
3.
Rcmove the screws securing the top cover.
Remove the top cover (
I-
-ig
ur
e 48) and the
diaphragm.
NOTE
Fi

is shown
with
the mnstercyl-
inder
remol'ed
and
disassembled for
c1ariry.
It
is not necessary to
remOl
'e
or
disassemble the master cylinder
to
perform this procedure.
4. Add brake fluid until the level
is
to the upper
level line
wi
thin the master cylinder reservoir (Fig-
ur
e 49).

container and clearly marked DOT 3

DOT 4 (specified for disc brakes).
