2. Remove the drum spacer (
Figure
17) from the
backside
of
the driven pulley drum.
3.
Remove the
nut

28) secu ring the d

ven
pulley to the driven pulley drum and separate the
2 parts.
4. If necessary. remove the bolts securing the side
plate (
Figure
29) to the driven pulley and remove
the side plate.
5.
Inspect all parts as described
in
this chapter.
6.
Install
by
reversing these removal Steps. Note
the following during installation.
7. If the side plate was removed. tighten the bolts
to the torque specification listed
in
Tab
le I.

Position the drum spacer with the

and install the drum
spa
cer
into the backside
ofthc
driven pulley drum.
Inspec
ti
on
I. Visually
in
spect the rubber dampers (
Figure
30) for signs
of
damage
or
deterioration. Replacc
dampers as a complete set.
2.
Inspect the teeth on the driven pulley (
Figure
31) assembly for cracks
or
damage or missing
teeth: replace
if
necessary.
3.
Inspect the driven
pu
lley for damage (
Figure
32).
4. If the driven pullcy requires replacement. also
inspect the drive belt and the drive pulley on the
engine. They also may be worn and need replacing.
5.
Inspect the bearing. turn the bearing
by
hand.
Make sure
it
turns smoothl
y.
Replace
if
necessary
as described in this chapter.
6.
On non-scaled bearings. check the balls for
evidence
of
wear. pining or excessive heat (bluish
tint). Replace the bearings
if
necessary: always
replace as a complete set. When replacing the
bearings. be sure
to take your o
ld
bearings along
to ensure a perfect malchup.

Fully sealed bearings are available
from many bearing specialry shops.
