THROTILE
CABLE REPLACEMENT
I. Remove the seat as described
in
Chapler
Twelve.

Remove the
fu
el tank as described
in
this

er.
3.
Remove the clip (A.

) securing the
Ihroule
cab
le and unhook the throttle cable from
the throttle wheel

4. Remove the screws securing the
right·hand
switch assembly (Figure 55) together. then
disengage the throttle
cab
le from the thrOllle grip.
5.
Rem
ove
any tie wraps or metal clamps securing
the throttle cable to the frame.

tape. Do not use an excessive
amount
of
tape as it must be pulled through the
frame
during
removal. Tie the other
end
of
the
string to

e frame
or
air
box.
7.
At the throttle grip end
of
the cable. carefu
ll
y
pull
the
cab
le (and attached string) out through the
frame. Make sure the attached string follows the
same path as the cable through the frame.
8.
Remove the tape and untie the string from the
old
cab
le.
9.
Lubricate the new cable as
descr
ibed
under
Control Cable in Chapter Three.
10.
Tie the string to the new throttle cable and
wrap
it
with tape.
I!. Carefully pull the string back through the
frame routing the new cable through the same path
as the old cable.

Attach the throttle

le to the throttle wheel
and turn the clip to hold the cable in place.

Attach the throttle cable

tighten the screws securel

Operate the throttle
grip
and make sure the
car
buretor throttle linkage
is
operating

rrectl
y.
with no binding.

operation
is
incorrect

there
is
binding, carefu

y check that the cable
is
attached
correctly and there are no tight bends in the cable.

Install the fuel tank and seat.
