2. To remove the bearing. insen a soft-a lu minum
or brass drift into one side of the drum.
3. Place the d ri ft on the in ne r race of the bearing
(8, Fi gur e 33).
4. Tap the bearing out of t he drum w ith a hammer.

5. On a non-sealed bearing. pack t he bearing wi th
a good-quality bearing grease. Work the grease in
between the balls thoroughly: !Urn the bearing by
hand a couple of ti mes to make sure the grease is
distributed evenly inside the bca ring.
6. Blow any din or foreign mau er out of the driven
pulley dru m before installing the bearing.
7. Tap the bearing squarely into place and l ap on
t he outer race on ly. Use a socket that malches the
o ut er race d ia meter. Do no t lap on the inner race
or the bearing might be damaged. Be sure that the
bearing is completely seated.
8. Install the grease seal.

AND DRIVE BELT
I. Remove the bo lt s (Figu re 34) securing t he d ri ve
pulley guard and remove the guard.
2. Remove the bolt (Figure 35) securing the drive
belt lower cover at the rear.
3. Remove the bolt and washer (A. Fig ure 36 )
securi ng the front of bo th the drive belt upper and
lower covers at the front.
