4B-3 Front Brakes:
3) Clean up the caliper especially around the caliper
piston.
4) Install the new brake pads.
CAUTION
!
Replace the brake pads as a set, otherwise
braking performance will be adversely
affected.
5) Tighten the pad mounting pin (4) and plug (1) to the
specified torque.
Tightening torque
Front brake pad mounting pin (a): 17 N·m (1.7
kgf-m, 12.5 lb-ft)
Pad pin plug (b): 2.5 N·m (0.25 kgf-m, 1.8 lb-ft)
NOTE
After replacing the brake pads, pump the
brake lever several times to check for proper
brake operation and then check the brake
fluid level.
Front Brake Caliper Removal and Installation

NOTE
The right and left calipers are installed
symmetrically and therefore the removal
procedure for one side is the same as that for
the other side.
Removal
1) Drain brake fluid. Refer to “Brake Fluid Replacement
in Section 4A (Page 4A-6)”.
2) Remove the brake hose from the caliper by
removing the union bolt (1) and catch the brake fluid
in a suitable receptacle.
NOTE
• Place a rag underneath the union bolt on
the brake caliper to catch any spilt brake
fluid.
• Slightly loosen the brake caliper housing
bolts (3) to facilitate later disassembly, if
necessary.
3) Remove the brake caliper by removing the caliper
mounting bolts (2).
