Gearshift Fork Groove Width
Measure the gearshift fork groove width using the
vernier calipers.
Special tool
(A): 09900–20102 (Vernier calipers (1/20 mm,
200 mm))
Gearshift fork groove width
Standard: 5.0 – 5.1 mm (0.197 – 0.201 in)
Gearshift Fork Thickness
Measure the gearshift fork thickness using the vernier
calipers.
Special tool
(A): 09900–20102 (Vernier calipers (1/20 mm,
200 mm))
Gearshift fork thickness
Standard: 4.8 – 4.9 mm (0.189 – 0.193 in)
Gearshift Cam Bearing
Inspect the gearshift cam bearings, left and right for
abnormal noise and smooth rotation.
Replace the bearing if there is anything unusual. Refer
to “Transmission Removal (Page 5B-3)” and
“Transmission Installation (Page 5B-4)”.

Gear Position (GP) Switch Removal and
Installation

Removal
1) Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2) Drain engine oil.
3) Remove the primary driven gear assembly. Refer to
“Clutch Removal in Section 5C (Page 5C-15)” and
“Clutch Installation in Section 5C (Page 5C-17)”.
4) Lift and support the fuel tank. Refer to “Fuel Tank
Removal and Installation in Section 1G (Page 1G-
10)”.
5) Disconnect the gear position switch coupler (1).
6) Remove the gear position switch (2).
