Mirrors
Before starting off, adjust the rear-view
mirror and the exterior mirrors in such a
way that you can get a good overview of
road and traffic conditions.
The convex exterior mirrors give a larger
field of vision.
i Your exterior mirrors are automatically heat-
ed at low outside temperatures.
1 To select the right or left-hand exterior
mirror
2 Adjustment button
3 To fold the exterior mirrors in or out
왘 To adjust: make sure that the key is in
position 1 or 2 in the ignition lock.
왘 Press button 1 repeatedly until the
desired exterior mirror is selected.
The left or right indicator lamp in the
button is lit.
왘 Press the front, back, left or right of ad-
justment button 2 until the mirror is
adjusted to the correct position.
i You can store the settings for the exterior
mirrors using the memory function
(
컄 page 272).
i The exterior mirror on the driver’s side is al-
ways selected when you press button 1 for the
first time.
The choice of mirror remains active for up to
15 seconds after you have adjusted the exterior
mirror.
왘 To fold in or out: press button 3.
The two exterior mirrors fold in or out.
Folding the exterior mirrors in or out
automatically
If the appropriate function is activated in
COMAND (
컄 page 207):
ì•« the exterior mirrors fold in automatical-
ly as soon as you lock the vehicle from
the outside
ì•« the exterior mirrors fold out again auto-
matically as soon as you unlock the ve-
hicle and then open the driver’s or
front-passenger door
i The mirrors do not fold out if they were pre-
viously folded in manually.

G Risk of accident
The exterior mirrors reduce the size of the
image. The objects are actually closer than
they appear. You could misjudge the dis-
tance from vehicles driving behind and
cause an accident, e.g. when changing lane.
For this reason, make sure of the actual dis-
tance from the vehicle driving behind by
glancing over your shoulder.
