Fitting a new wheel
1 Wheel bolts for “Minispare” emergency
spare wheel* and 17” light-alloy
wheels
2 Wheel bolts for 18” light-alloy wheels
and larger
! You will require different wheel bolts if your
vehicle is equipped with a “Minispare” emergen-
cy spare wheel. If this is the case, use short
wheel bolts 1 supplied with the “Minispare”
emergency spare wheel.
왘 Clean the wheel and wheel hub contact
surfaces.
왘 Push the “Minispare” emergency spare
wheel* or spare wheel* onto the cen-
tring pin and press it on fully.
왘 Screw in the wheel bolts and tighten
them gently.
왘 Unscrew the centring pin.
왘 Screw in the last wheel bolt and tighten
it gently.

Replace damaged or corroded wheel bolts.
Never oil or grease wheel bolts.

If a wheel hub thread is damaged, you must
not drive the vehicle any further. Consult a
qualified specialist workshop which has the
necessary specialist knowledge and tools to
carry out the work required. Mercedes-Benz
recommends that you use a Mercedes-Benz
Service Centre for this purpose. In particu-
lar, work relevant to safety or on safety-
related systems must be carried out at a
qualified specialist workshop.
G Risk of accident
Only use wheel bolts that have been de-
signed for the wheel and the vehicle. For
safety reasons, Mercedes-Benz recom-
mends that you only use wheel bolts which
have been specially approved for
Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Other bolts could
work loose.
Do not tighten the wheel bolts completely
while the vehicle is still jacked up. The vehi-
cle could topple off the jack.
