Controls
Auxiliary heating /ventilation*
The auxiliary heating heats or ventilates
the vehicle interior until the temperature
you have set using the temperature control
is reached.
i You cannot use the auxiliary ventilation to
cool the vehicle interior to a lower temperature
than the outside temperature.
You can use COMAND to set up to three
switch-on times, one of which may be se-
lected at any one time (
컄 page 219).
You can switch the auxiliary heating on and
off straight away using the button on the
centre console (
컄 page 351) or the remote
control (
컄 page 352).
If you have switched on the auxiliary heat-
ing using the remote control or the button
on the centre console, it will switch off
automatically after 50 minutes. You can
have this time changed. To do this, visit a
qualified specialist workshop, e.g. a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.
i The tank must be at least full to the reserve
fuel level to ensure that the auxiliary heating
functions.
i The auxiliary heating or ventilation automat-
ically adjusts to changes in the temperature and
the weather conditions. For this reason, the aux-
iliary heating could switch over from ventilation
mode to heating mode or from heating mode to
ventilation mode.
Before switching on
왘 It is preferable to set the air condition-
ing to automatic mode (
컄 page 346).
i The auxiliary heating or ventilation can also
be switched on manually. However, optimum
comfort can only be obtained when the automat-
ic air conditioning is in automatic mode.
왘 Set the interior temperature to the de-
sired value (
컄 page 346).
The auxiliary heating or ventilation au-
tomatically adjusts to the set tempera-
ture.
i It is best to set the temperature to 22 °C.

G Risk of fire and poisoning
Exhaust fumes are produced when the aux-
iliary heating is in operation. You should
therefore switch off the auxiliary heating in
confined spaces without an extraction sys-
tem, e.g. a garage.
Auxiliary heating operation is prohibited at
filling stations or when your vehicle is being
refuelled. You must therefore switch off the
auxiliary heating at filling stations.
