Electric parking brake
1 Handle for the electric parking brake
Releasing the electric parking brake
manually
왘 Pull handle 1.
The red ! indicator lamp in the in-
strument cluster goes out.
You can only release the electric parking
brake if the key is in position 1 in the igni-
tion lock or if the ignition has been
switched on using the KEYLESS GO button.
Releasing the electric parking brake
automatically
The electric parking brake in your vehicle is
released automatically when the following
conditions are fulfilled:
ì•« The engine is running
ì•« The automatic transmission is in posi-
tion D or R
ì•« The bonnet is closed
ì•« You are wearing your seat belt
ì•« You accelerate
The boot lid must be closed if the automat-
ic transmission is in position R. If the seat
belt is not inserted in the buckle, the driv-
er’s door must be closed and transmission
position P must be deselected.
Applying the electric parking brake
manually
왘 Press handle 1.
The red ! indicator lamp in the in-
strument cluster comes on.
i On steep slopes, turn the front wheels to-
wards the kerb.
i You can apply the electric parking brake
even when there is no key in the ignition lock.
Parking
G Risk of injury
Never leave children unsupervised in the ve-
hicle. They could release the electric parking
brake if the ignition is switched on. This
could lead to a serious or fatal accident.
G Risk of fire
Make sure that the exhaust system does not
under any circumstances come into contact
with easily ignitable material such as dry
grass or petrol. The material could other-
wise ignite and set parts of the vehicle
alight.
