Locking/unlocking in an emergency
The manual electric parking brake release
is next to the fuel filler cap under the fuel
filler flap.
1 Fuel filler flap
2 Release tool
3 Protective cap
왘 Move the transmission selector lever to
P (
컄 page 292).
왘 Place the wheel chock from the vehicle
tool kit (
컄 page 425) under one of the
rear wheels.
왘 Open fuel filler flap 1.
왘 Remove protective cap 3.
왘 Screw release tool 2 from the vehicle
tool kit (
컄 page 425) 2 to 3 turns clock-
wise onto the release cable.
왘 Pull release tool 2 in the direction of
the arrow.
The electric parking brake is released.
The ! red electric parking brake in-
dicator lamp in the instrument cluster
flashes. The “Parking brake See Own-
er’s Manual” message appears in the
multi-function display.
After the electric parking brake has been
released, it is possible to apply it from the
driver’s seat again.
왘 Press the electric parking brake handle
(
컄 page 289).
i If it is not possible to release the electric
parking brake, pull the release tool with more
force.
! Refit protective cap 3 when you have man-
ually released the electric parking brake.

G Risk of injury
The vehicle may start moving of its own ac-
cord if you release the electric parking brake
manually. Make sure that nobody is present
behind or in front of the vehicle. There is oth-
erwise a risk of a serious or fatal accident.
Move the transmission selector lever to P
and secure your vehicle using the wheel
chock from the vehicle tool kit.
