Practical advice
Jump-starting
If the starter battery is discharged and the
vehicle does not start, the engine can be
jump-started from another vehicle using
jump leads. Observe the following points:
ì•« Connect the jump lead directly to the
terminal shoe on the starter battery.
Do not use the consumer battery
charging point.
ì•« Jump-starting must only be performed
when the engine and catalytic convert-
er are cold.
ì•« Do not start the engine if the battery
has frozen. Thaw the battery out first.
ì•« Jump-starting may only be performed
from 12 V batteries.
ì•« Only use jump leads which are protect-
ed against polarity reversal and which
have a sufficient cross-section and in-
sulated terminal clamps.
i Jump leads which are protected against po-
larity reversal and further information about
jump-starting can be obtained from any
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre, for example.
! Avoid repeated and lengthy starting at-
tempts. Only perform jump-starting on the bat-
tery in the engine compartment.

charger.
왘 Make sure that the two vehicles do not
touch.
