Practical advice
Fuses
The fuses in your vehicle serve to close
down faulty circuits. If a fuse blows, all
components on the circuit and their func-
tions will fail.
i Blown fuses must be replaced by fuses of
the same rating (identifiable by the colour and
amperage) and with the amperages recommend-
ed in the fuse allocation chart. A Mercedes-Benz
Service Centre will be happy to advise you.
If a newly fitted fuse blows, have the cause
traced and rectified at a qualified specialist
workshop, e.g. a Mercedes-Benz Service
Centre.
The following implements are available for
changing the fuses:
ì•« Fuse allocation chart
ì•« Spare fuses
ì•« Fuse extractor
! Only use fuses that have been approved for
Mercedes-Benz vehicles and which have the cor-
rect amperage for the system concerned. Other-
wise, electrical components or systems could be
damaged.
! Switch off the internal functions of the vehi-
cle network (컄 page 522) before working with
fuses.
The fuses are located in various fuse box-
es:
ì•« Fuse box in the engine compartment
on the left-hand side when viewed in
the direction of travel (

ì•« Fuse box in the engine compartment
on the right-hand side when viewed in
the direction of travel (

ì•« Fuse box in the rear compartment
(

ì•« Fuse boxes on the right and left-hand
side of the dashboard (

G Risk of fire
Only use fuses that have been approved for
Mercedes-Benz vehicles and which have the
correct amperage for the system con-
cerned. Do not attempt to repair or bridge
faulty fuses. A circuit overload could other-
wise cause a fire. Have the cause traced and
rectified at a qualified specialist workshop,
e.g. a Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.
