Changing the batteries
If the batteries in the key or KEYLESS GO*
key are discharged, you will only be able to
lock or unlock the vehicle using the emer-
gency key element (
컄 page 495).
If the batteries in the auxiliary heating* re-
mote control are discharged, you will only
be able to switch the auxiliary heating on
or off using the button in the vehicle
(
컄 page 351).
In this case, it is advisable to have the bat-
teries replaced at a qualified specialist
workshop, e.g. a Mercedes-Benz Service
Centre.
i Always replace the batteries in pairs. You
can obtain suitable batteries from a qualified
specialist workshop, e.g. a Mercedes-Benz Serv-
ice Centre. They will also change batteries for
you and take back old batteries. In many EU
countries and some other countries, retailers are
legally obliged to take back old batteries.
You need two Varta or Panasonic CR 2025
3 V cell batteries.

왘 Remove emergency key element 1

왘 Insert emergency key element 1 into
the opening in the key and press in the
direction of the arrow.
Battery tray 2 is released.
왘 Remove battery tray 2 from the key in
the direction of the arrow.
Changing the batteries
G Risk of poisoning
Batteries contain toxic and caustic sub-
stances. For this reason, keep batteries
away from children.
If a battery is swallowed, consult a doctor
immediately.
H Environmental note
Do not dispose of batteries with the house-
hold rubbish. They contain highly toxic sub-
stances.
Take discharged batteries to a qualified spe-
cialist workshop, e.g. a Mercedes-Benz
Service Centre, or to a special collection
point for old batteries.
