Cruise control is automatically deactivated
if:
앫 you apply the electric parking brake
앫 you are driving under 30 km/h
앫 ESP
®
(컄 page 54) intervenes or you de-
activate ESP
®
앫 you shift the automatic transmission to
N while the vehicle is in motion
A signal sounds. The “Cruise control
off” message is displayed in the multi-
function display for approximately five
seconds.
i The last speed stored is cleared when you
switch off the engine.
Distronic controls the speed and automat-
ically maintains a safe distance from vehi-
cles travelling in front. Distronic functions
at speeds between 30 and 200 km/h.
If a slower-moving vehicle is detected in
front, Distronic causes your vehicle to
brake and maintain a preset distance from
the vehicle in front.
Distronic*
G Risk of accident
Distronic is only an aid designed to assist
driving. You are responsible for your vehi-
cle’s distance from other vehicles, the
speed of your vehicle and for braking in
good time.
Distronic does not react to:
앫 pedestrians
앫 stationary obstacles in the road, e.g.
stationary or parked vehicles
앫 oncoming vehicles and cross traffic
Distronic may not detect narrow vehicles
travelling in front, e.g. motorcycles and vehi-
cles travelling on a parallel but offset line.
Therefore, always pay attention to the traffic
conditions, even when Distronic is activat-
ed. You may otherwise fail to recognise dan-
gers in time, cause an accident and injure
yourself and others.
G Risk of accident
Distronic cannot detect road and traffic con-
ditions. Deactivate Distronic in driving situa-
tions in which it maintains the speed or
accelerates to the set speed because it has
lost the vehicle travelling in front, in particu-
lar:
앫 before bends
앫 in filter lanes
앫 when changing into a lane with fast traf-
fic
앫 on rerouted lanes, e.g. motorway works
Distronic cannot take weather conditions
into account. Deactivate Distronic or do not
activate it:
앫 on slippery road surfaces, snow or ice.
The wheels may lose their grip when the
driver brakes or accelerates the vehicle.
The vehicle could begin to skid.
앫 when the sensors are dirty or there is
poor visibility, e.g. due to fog, rain or
snow. The proximity control may be im-
paired
