COOLING SYSTEM
WATER PUMP/THE
MECHANICAL
SEAL
INSPECTION
The water pump bleed hole
is
located
in
the lower side
of water pump
[1]
joint area with cylinder head.
If there
is
coolant leakage around this area, remove the
water pump (page 9-8).
Check the bleed hole of the water pump for signs of
coolant leakage
[2].
If the coolant
is
leaking out from the bleed hole, the
mechanical seal
in
the water pump assembly is faulty.
Replace the water pump
as
an
assembly.
• A small amount of weeping from the bleed hole
is
normal.
Make sure that there
is
no
continuous coolant
leakage from the bleed hole while operating the
engine.
