Pucks
Pucks are the preconfigured vehicles available from MagneMotion to carry payloads through
the MagneMover LITE transport system on the rails. A high-strength magnet array, described
in Magnet Arrays on page 98, is mounted to the surface of the puck closest to the motors. The
magnet array interacts with the motors, which move the vehicle. Pucks are available in differ-
ent styles; glide and wheeled. Both puck styles have magnet arrays that are attached to the sur-
face closest to the motors as shown in Figure 3-26 and Figure 3-32.
When moving at maximum acceleration or velocity, the payload being carried must fit within
the payload envelopes shown in this section to achieve the advertised life of wear compo-
nents. Contact TechConnect
℠
(see Rockwell Automation Support on page 486) if the payload
is within the weight specification but outside the envelope specification shown.
Single Array Glide Puck
Glide pucks with single magnet arrays, as shown in Figure 3-26, are used when the material
being moved weighs up to 1 kg [2.2 lb]. See Figure 4-34, Glide Puck Mechanical Drawing
(G5), on page 182 for details.
Figure 3-26: Single Array Glide Puck
For proper operation, the payload on the puck must fit within the payload envelope that is
shown in Figure 3-27. When using payloads that exceed the limits that are shown, refer to
Puck Limits on page 124.
