Derating at High Altitude
When operating in a high altitude environment with lower air pressure, both the operating
temperature range and the cooling capacity has to be derated compared to that of sea level.
For the air-cooled motors, a rule-of-thumb formula for derating the cooling capacity is:
Derating Factor = 1 - (H/17500)
Where:
H – The height over sea level in meters.
Derating Factor – The factor that to be multiplied with the cooling capacity in [W] to
get the cooling capacity at the specified height over sea level.
Lighting, Site
No special lighting is required for proper operation of the MagneMover LITE transport sys-
tem. Maintenance can require a user-supplied service lamp (for example, a flashlight).
Floor Space and Loading
The site for the MagneMover LITE transport system must meet the minimum space require-
ments that are defined after developing the layout as defined in Transport System Layout on
page 74. See the Mechanical Specifications on page 148 to make sure that there is proper
clearance for installation, operation, and servicing of the MM LITE motors and other compo-
nents. The dimensions that are given are for the MM LITE motors and other components only.
The facility must make sure that there is adequate space for operation and service around the
equipment that is based on their needs and any vehicle overhang.
Facilities
The facility is responsible for providing the facilities that are specified in Electrical Specifica-
tions on page 206 and Pneumatic Specifications on page 227 to support proper operation of
the MagneMover LITE motors and other components. See Facilities Connections on
page 302 for the connection of all facilities to the MagneMover LITE transport system.
The facility is responsible for the main disconnect device between the MagneMover LITE
transport system and the power source, making sure it complies with the appropriate facility,
local, and national electrical codes. Service to the MagneMover LITE transport system must
have the appropriate circuit breaker rating.
