Magnet Arrays
The amount of linear thrust that a MagneMover LITE motor provides is primarily a function
of magnet array length.
High Flux Magnet Arrays
The high flux magnet array for the MagneMover LITE motors is an arrangement of neodym-
ium iron boron (NdFeB) permanent magnets in a Halbach-type array. This array augments the
magnetic field on the side of the array facing the motor while reducing the field to near zero
on the other side. The magnets in the array are placed perpendicular to the direction of motion.
The magnet arrays come in one size, with a full South oriented magnet located in the middle
of the array and a North oriented half magnet located at each end of the array. Orientation of
the magnets is referenced to the surface that faces the motor as shown in Figure 3-23.

NOTICE Even though the magnet arrays are covered with a stainless
steel cover the magnets can still be damaged and are subject
to corrosion if damaged.
