MagneMover LITE User Manual 87
Rockwell Automation Publication MMI-UM002F-EN-P - October 2022
Methods to Reduce Voltage Drop
There are two methods that can be used to reduce the drop of voltage in the system during
acceleration. The first method is to decrease the cable resistance between the power supply
and the motors by either shortening the length of the cables or by increasing the conductor
gauge of the cables. This method reduces the voltage difference between the power supply
and the motor. The second method is to limit the number of motors that are connected to one
power supply.
Signal Wiring
Logic power of +36V DC is provided separately. Logic power is constant per motor (see
Table 4-9 on page 206). Separating the logic and propulsion power buses allows propulsion
power to be removed (for example, during an EMO event) without losing the motor logic
functions (for example, configuration data, vehicle data, fault information). Separate power
buses also allow the motors to be programmed and configured without enabling the propul-
sion power.
NOTE: The standard wiring provided as part of a MagneMover LITE transport system pro-
vides this separation of power buses.
Ground
Proper grounding of the MagneMover LITE transport system is required to make sure of
proper operation and to minimize electrical safety issues.
The bodies of the motors are grounded through the GND connection on the power
connector.
The NC LITE and SYNC IT
modules are not grounded through their power connec-
tions. The cases of these modules must be grounded to an electrical safety ground (PE)
through their mounting features.
The NC-12 is grounded through the GND stud on the node controller.
The NC-E and NC-S are grounded through the power connection.
All power supplies must be grounded to an electrical safety ground (PE) via the safety
ground in the AC input connector.
All junction boxes must be grounded to an electrical safety ground (PE).
