Layer 3 Routing Commands 1260
maximum-paths ibgp (BGP Router Configuration)
Use this command to specify the maximum number of next hops BGP may
include in an Equal Cost Multipath (ECMP) route derived from paths
received from neighbors within the local autonomous system.
Syntax
maximum-paths ibgp number-of-paths
no maximum-paths ibgp
number-of-paths—The maximum number of next hops in a BGP router.
The range is from 1 to 32 unless the platform or SDM template further
restricts the range.
Default Configuration
BGP uses a single next hop by default.
Command Mode
BGP Router Configuration mode
User Guidelines
Paths are considered for ECMP when their attributes are the same (local
preference, AS path, origin, MED, and IGP distance) and the paths are
received from different routers. When BGP uses multiple paths in an ECMP
route, BGP still selects one path as the best path and advertises only that path
to its peers.
The following ranges are supported in the default SDM template:
N40xx 1-4
N30xx 1-4
N20xx 1-1
Configure the data-center version of the desired SDM template to increase
the ECMP paths.
Command History
Introduced in version 6.2.0.1 firmware.
