The driving recommendation is only an auxiliary
function and cannot replace the driver's attention.

It is the driver's responsibility to choose the
correct gear according to the situation at hand,
e.g. when overtaking or on mountainous
terrain.

Depending on the vehicle's equipment, the
instrument panel may display a recommendation in
the instrument cluster with the number of the gear
that should be selected to save fuel → Fig. 99.

Never allow any objects or mats to interfere with
the operation and movement of the pedals.
Use only floor mats that clear the pedal area and
are fixed in the footwell in such a way that they do
not shift.
The Tiptronic programme can be used for this purpose.

If the optimum gear is engaged, no
recommendation will be displayed. The currently
engaged gear will be displayed.
Fuel savings can be achieved by selecting
the optimum gear.

Make sure that nothing can prevent you from
operating the pedals at all times.
•
Always fix the floor mats securely in the re-
floor area of the footrest.
•
Never place other mats or other coverings on
top of the fitted mat.
•
Avoid objects falling into the driver's footwell
while the vehicle is in motion.
•
With the vehicle parked, remove any objects
in the footwell.
Objects in the driver's footwell can make it difficult
to operate the pedals. This can lead to loss of
control of the vehicle and increases the risk of
serious injury.
