If services are inadequate or not provided
and if the service intervals are not observed, the
vehicle could be immobilised in the middle of
traffic and cause an accident and serious injury.

Sets of services
The prescribed service intervals and service
packages have generally been determined on the
basis of normal conditions of use.
If the vehicle is used under adverse conditions of
use , some of the work will need to be carried out
before the next service interval or between the
prescribed service intervals.
Adverse conditions of use include, but are not limited
to:
— The use of fuel with a high sulphur content.
— Frequent short journeys.
— Leaving the engine idling for long periods of
time, as in the case of taxis.
— Use of the vehicle in dusty areas.
— The predominant use of the vehicle in dense
traffic situations with intermittent stops, e.g. in
the city.
— The use of the vehicle predominantly in winter.
This applies in particular to the following
components (depending on equipment):
— Dust and pollen filter
— Air filter
— Toothed belt
— Particulate filter
— Engine oil
The service advisor at your specialist workshop
will be happy to advise you on the need for work
between the normal service intervals, taking into
account the conditions of use of your vehicle.
Volkswagen accepts no liability for damage to the
vehicle caused by insufficient work or insufficient
availability of parts.
The service packages include all maintenance
work that is necessary to ensure road safety and the
proper functioning of your vehicle ( depending on the
conditions of use and the vehicle's equipment ,
e. g . engine, transmission, fluids and operating
equipment). The maintenance work is divided into
inspection work and overhaul work. For details of

— Check the 12-volt battery and replace if
necessary.
— Check lighting.
— Check the horn.
— Check the headlamp settings.
— Reset the service interval indicator.
Engine and gearbox
— Check exhaust system.
— Check gearbox and final drive.
— Check poly-V-belt.
— Check the cooling system.
— Check engine and engine compartment
components.
— Check the engine oil level.
Running gear
— Check ball joints and tie rods.
— Check tyres.
— Check the brake system.
— Check brake pads and discs.
— Check the brake fluid level.
— Check the dust covers of the joints.
— Check tie rod and anti-roll bar bearings.
— Check air suspension.
— Check the puncture repair kit.
— Check the pressure of all tyres.
— Check power steering.
