In the infotainment system, you can check whether
your vehicle is assigned to a person as the main
user.
In this case, you can register yourself as the
vehicle's main user and thus automatically delete
the previous main user. Alternatively, you can
permanently delete the previous user as the
primary user directly via infotainment and set the
vehicle to offline mode, thereby limiting both the
communication of your vehicle with the Volkswagen
AG data server and the processing of personal and
vehicle data.
Deactivate
C a r - N e t
services
Note and at the beginning of this
chapter
on page 170.
If your vehicle is already equipped with the legally
mandated emergency call function "eCall", its
functionality is not affected by the deactivation
described here.
Individual
deactivation
You can deactivate the Car-Net service portfolio or
individual services in the infotainment system. You
can run the services again after deactivating them in
the infotainment.
Deactivation by a specialist workshop
If you sell the vehicle or lend it out for a longer
period of time, inform the buyer or the user about
the services or the OCU that have been deactivated
by the specialist workshop.
Temporarily disable: If your vehicle is in a
workshop, the workshop may disable some or all
CarNet services while the vehicle is there. Once the
work has been completed, the services will be
available again. If this is not the case, please contact
the specialist workshop that carried out the work.
Permanent deactivation: To deactivate the
Volkswagen Car-Net service cards "Security &
Security" or "e-Remote" permanently, you must
have the OCU deactivated by a specialist
workshop.
Once the OCU has been deactivated, the specialist
workshop in charge usually affixes a sticker to the
vehicle, e.g. on the roof console. The sticker
indicates that the Volkswagen Emergency Call
Service, the automatic accident warning and the
Car-Net services no longer function.

indicating deactivation of the Car-Net services by a
specialist workshop.
Anomalies
Note and at the beginning of this
chapter on
page 170.
Even if the prerequisites for using the Car-Net
services are fulfilled, factors beyond the control of
Volkswagen AG may affect or impede the
performance of the Car-Net services. These may
include in particular
—
Maintenance, repair, decommissioning, software
updates and technical upgrades of
telecommunications equipment, satellites,
servers and databases.
—
Change of the mobile telephony standard for
mobile data transmission by the
telecommunications service provider, e.g. from
UMTS to EDGE or GPRS.
—
Disconnection of an existing mobile telephony
standard by the telecommunications service
provider.
—
Interference, disturbance or interruption of
mobile phone and GPS signal reception due to
e.g. high speed driving, solar storms,
meteorological influences, topography, jamming
equipment and intensive mobile phone use in
the radio cells concerned.
—
When in areas with no or insufficient mobile
phone or GPS coverage. Also,
e.g. in tunnels, in areas between very high
buildings, garages, subways, mountains and
valleys.
—
Third-party information from third-party providers
available with limitations, incomplete or
incorrect,
e.g. map representations.
—
Countries and regions where Car-Net is not offered.
