Driver assistance systems
The brake assist only takes place as long as the
brake pedal is firmly depressed. Brake assist only
takes place as long as the brake pedal is firmly
depressed.
City emergency braking function
The city emergency braking function is part of
Front Assist. If the driver does not react to the
danger of a collision, the system can automatically
brake the vehicle, even without prior warning, by
gradually increasing the braking force.
When this happens, the warning lamp lights up.
Distance warning
The system detects whether there is
a safety hazard due to excessive
driving.
The warning lamp illuminates. The
indicator light comes on, increase the
distance!
Speed range: between 65 km/h (40 mph) and
250 km/h (155 mph) approx.
Limitations of Front Assist
Please note at the beginning of this chapter
on
page 145.
Front Assist has certain limitations of its own
and is subject to the limits imposed by the laws of
physics. Therefore, always be vigilant and, if
necessary, intervene!
Delayed reaction
When the radar sensor is exposed to environmental
conditions which impair its operation, the system
may detect this with a delay. Therefore, any
operating limitations at the start of the drive and
during the drive may be displayed with a delay.
→ p. 145.
