The following conditions may result in an
emergency call not being possible, either manually
or automatically, or only being possible to a
limited extent:

The emergency call is made in an area with no

In areas with sufficient mobile phone and
GPS coverage, the telecommunications
operator's mobile phone network is not
available.

be made. Nor will it be diverted.

Emergency call service
Depending on the equipment and country, voice
services can be provided via the control unit in the
roof console → fig. 52. A factory-fitted control unit
establishes the necessary connection.

Emergency
call service control lamp
There is an indicator light → fig. 52 (arrow) on the
control unit. Depending on the operating status of
the vehicle, the indicator lamp lights up in different
colours and light sequences:
The control lamp is off: the Emergency Call
Service is deactivated.

The control lamp flashes red for approx. 20
seconds after switching on the ignition: the
emergency call service is deactivated.
The control light remains red: there is a fault
in the system. Emergency call service is not

The control lamp is green: the emergency
call service is available, the system is
operational on the vehicle side.
The control lamp flashes green: a voice
connection is active.
Information call

With the Information call, a call is made to the
customer service of Volks- wagen AG.

The Information Call is only available in
selected countries.

The telephone caller communicates in the
language in which the vehicle was registered
in Car-Net.

With the assistance call, you can call for
specialised help in the event of a malfunction.

e.g. the current location of the vehicle, are
transmitted.

Emergency call service

When this service is activated, a connection to
the Volkswagen emergency call centre is
established.

If an emergency call is made manually or
triggered automatically in the event of an
accident with an airbag deployment, data
relevant to the emergency response, e.g. the
current location of the vehicle, are transmitted.

The telephone call partner uses the language
that is set in the vehicle's infotainment system.
If the set language is not available at the location
of the emergency call, English will be used.

The Emergency Call Service can be
deactivated in a specialist workshop.
Manually activate an emergency call

Press the emergency call
buttonuntil the indicator light flashes green. The
emergency call is activated and a voice
connection to the Volkswagen emergency call
centre is established.
