Electronic
immobiliser
The electronic immobiliser helps to prevent the
engine from being started with an unauthorised key
and, as a result, the vehicle from being moved.
The vehicle key has an integrated chip. When a
valid key is inserted into the ignition lock, the chip
automatically deactivates the electronic ignition.
The electronic immobiliser is automatically
activated as soon as the key is removed from the
ignition switch. For vehicles with the "Keyless
Access" locking and starting system, the vehicle key
must be outside the vehicle.
For this reason, the vehicle can only be started with
a correctly coded Volkswagen Genuine key. Such
keys are available from a Volkswagen dealer.
Correct operation of the vehicle is only
guaranteed with the original keys.
