Legal guarantee
Volkswagen dealerships guarantee the perfect
condition of their vehicles and handle all warranty
claims.
For details of the statutory and commercial
warranty, please refer to the purchase contract or
contact a Volkswagen dealer.
Volkswagen dealers grant a warranty covering the
paintwork and bodywork of their vehicles.
In addition to the statutory warranty clauses for
new Volkswagen vehicles in the purchase contract,
a time-limited commercial warranty covering
paintwork and bodywork corrosion perforations is
provided:
— a 3-year warranty covering paint and paintwork
defects and
— a 12-year warranty covering corrosion
perforation. Corrosion perforation' means a
perforation of the body sheet metal from the
inner (hollow) part to the outer part.
— Valid for USA only: a 7-year warranty covering
corrosion perforation. Corrosion perforation'
means a perforation of the body sheet metal
from the inside (hollow) to the outside.
In the event of such damage, however, any
Volkswagen dealer will repair the damage free of
charge for labour and material costs.
The guarantee shall not apply in the following
cases:
— In the event of damage caused by external
influences or insufficient care of the vehicle.
— In the event of damage to the bodywork or
paintwork which has not been remedied in time
in accordance with the manufacturer's
instructions.
— In the case of corrosion perforations which are
the result of repairs to the carriage not having
been carried out in accordance with the
manufacturer's instructions.
After repairs to the bodywork or paintwork have
been carried out, the Volkswagen dealer will certify
you as a Volkswagen dealer.
The warranty against corrosion perforation of the
repaired areas shall be void.
Black box (Event Data Recor-
der)
This vehicle is equipped with a black box. The main
function of a black box is to record data in case of
accidents occurring under special circumstances or
in case of accident-like situations, e.g. in case of
airbag deployment.
or collision with an obstacle on the road. This data
helps to analyse how the vehicle's systems have
behaved. The black box records data from the
driving dynamics and the restraint system for a
short period of time of 10 seconds or less, e.g. for
the first 10 seconds:
— how various vehicle systems have performed,
— whether the driver and front passenger were
wearing seat belts,
— how hard the driver has pressed the fre- no or
accelerator,
— at what speed the vehicle was travelling.
These data help to better understand the
circumstances of situations where accidents have
occurred and injuries have occurred.
Data from driver assistance systems are also
recorded. In addition to information on whether the
systems were switched on, switched off, only
partially available or inactive, it can also be
checked whether these functions controlled,
accelerated or braked the vehicle in the situations
mentioned above. Depending on the equipment,
these systems and functions may include, for
example:
— adaptive cruise control
— lane departure warning assistant
— parking assistants
— the emergency brake functions
The black box data is only recorded if a special
situation similar to an accident occurs. Under
normal driving conditions no recording is made.
No audio data is saved
or video from the passenger compartment or the
environment
