Handing over and scrapping of
end-of-life vehicles
End-of-life vehicle handover
Volkswagen has already prepared for the time
when the vehicle is to be recycled in an
environmentally friendly manner. Upon delivery of
the vehicle, a certificate will be received
documenting that the vehicle has been recycled in
accordance with the regulations and in an
environmentally friendly manner.
As a rule, end-of-life vehicle trade-in is free of
charge, provided that national legal provisions are
complied with.
Further information on the handover and recycling of
end-of-life vehicles is available from Volkswagen
dealers.
Scrapping
When dismantling the vehicle or certain vehicle
components, such as airbag systems and seatbelt
pre-tensioners, it is essential to observe the
applicable safety regulations. Specialist workshops
are familiar with these regulations.
Important information for
vehicles of category N1
(light commercial vehicle)
For vehicles intended for the carriage of goods with
a maximum authorised mass not exceeding 3.5 t
(category N1 in Europe), please note the following
information:
Variants and number of places
There are different versions of N1 vehicles based on
a Volkswagen passenger car. Thus, the number of
seats can be limited to two or four.
Two-seater vehicles: As they are not equipped with a
rear seat, the floor in the rear part of the
passenger compartment is not covered → .
Four-seater vehicles: The rear seat is designed in
such a way that the middle seat cannot be
used → .
Safe transport of children
Approved child restraint systems may be used in the
seats of these vehicles as in the case of vehicles of
category M1 (passenger cars) → p. 52.
