Information for the driver
The intelligent technology of the fatigue detection
system cannot overcome the limits imposed by
the laws of physics and only works within the
limits of the system. Do not allow the increased
comfort provided by the fatigue detection system
to induce you to take any safety risks. When
making long journeys, take regular, sufficiently
long breaks.
•
The driver is always responsible for ensuring
that he/she is able to drive.
•
Never drive when you feel tired.
•
The system does not always detect driver
fatigue. Please note the information in the
section "Limited operation".
•
In some situations, the system may
erroneously inter- pret an intentional
manoeuvre as a sign of driver fatigue.
•
In the case of so-called "micro-sleep" at the
wheel, there is no strong warning!
•
Observe the indications on the instrument
panel display and act accordingly.
Operation and handling
The fatigue detection system records the driver's
driving behaviour at the start of a journey and
makes a fatigue assessment based on this
information. This is continuously compared with
the current driving behaviour. If the system
detects driver fatigue, it reports this acoustically as
well as visually with a symbol and an additional
message on the instrument cluster display → Fig.
17. The message on the instrument cluster display
is shown for approx. 5 seconds and, if necessary, is
shown a second time. The system saves the last
warning that occurred.
The instrument cluster display warning can be
hidden as follows:

wheel.
Operating conditions
Driving behaviour is only assessed at speeds
between 60 km/h (37 mph) and 60 km/h (37 mph).
and 200 km/h (125 mph) approx.
Switching on and off
The fatigue detection system can be switched on
and off in the infotainment system in the vehicle
settings menu → page 29.
