improve engine performance.
The fuel sticker may show several types of petrol,
e.g. 95/92 / 97/93 RON/ROZ. The petrol types
highlighted in bold, e.g. 95/92 in the example, are
those which should preferably be used for the
vehicle. Only if these are not available may
another type of petrol be used. In doing so, the
petrol type with the highest octane rating, e.g. 97
instead of 93, should be used.
For vehicles with petrol engines, use only
unleaded petrol or petrol containing not more
than 10 % ethanol (E10) → .
The quality of the fuel influences the driving
behaviour, power and service life of the engine. Fill
with fuel that already contains suitable additives →

Incorrect refuelling and the use of unsuitable fuel
additives can cause damage to the vehicle.
Before refuelling, check whether the fuel
standard on the fuel pump meets the
requirements of the vehicle.
Use only additives approved by Volkswagen
and in the dosage approved in each case.
Only refuel with petrol with the stated octane
rating (RON/ROZ) or higher. If, in an emergency,
you need to fill up with petrol with
If the octane number is too low, drive only at a
medium engine speed and do not overtax the
engine. Avoid high engine speeds and high
engine stress. Refuelling as soon as possible

Bleed air from the fuel tank
The air in the fuel tank is automatically vented
when the
unlock
button
on the driver's door
is
pressed.
An acoustic signal sounds and a message for
automatic purging is shown in the instrument
cluster display.
Refuelling
1.
Unlock the fuel filler flap
with the key on the
driver's door
.
2.
Open the fuel filler flap.
3.
Unscrew the tank cap and fit it into the hole
provided in the lid.
4.
To ensure optimum refuelling, hold the
nozzle gun with the handle pointing
downwards.
5.
The fuel tank is full when the fuel nozzle cuts
off the fuel supply for the first time → page
223.
6.
Screw the tank cap onto the filler neck.
7.
Close the fuel filler flap.
If the fuel tank is overfilled, fuel may splash out
and overflow. This could cause explosions, fire
and serious injury.
Do not continue refuelling when the fuel
dispenser nozzle cuts off the fuel supply for
the first time.
