The use of unsuitable or repaired fuses and the
bypassing of an electrical circuit without fuses
can lead to fire and serious injury.

Never fit fuses with a higher protection rating.
Replace fuses only with fuses of the same
amperage (same colour and engraving) and
type.
maño.
•
Never repair a fuse.
•
Never replace a fuse with a metal strip, paper
clip or similar object.
Introduction to the topic
6.
Carefully insert the bulb holder into the
headlamp and press it forwards until it clicks
into place → Fig. 154.
7.
Fit the rubber cover completely.
8.
Close the front bonnet → page 240.
The figures show the right headlamp. The left
headlamp is symmetrical.
Change
fuses
Since the vehicle is undergoing continuous
development, the fuses are assigned according to
equipment and one fuse can be assigned to several
electrical consumers, it was not possible to compile
a complete overview of the fuse positions at the
time of going to press. More detailed information on
the assignment of the fuses is available from
Volkswagen dealers.
As a rule, one fuse can be assigned to several
electrical consumers. Similarly, one consumer can
be assigned to several fuses.
Do not replace the fuses without first eliminating the
cause of the fault. If a fuse blows again shortly
after replacement, have the electrical system
checked by a specialist workshop.
•
To prevent damage to the vehicle's electrical
system, always switch off the ignition, the lights
and all electrical connections before changing a
fuse.
Always remove the key from the ignition lock.
•
If a fuse is replaced by a fuse with a higher
rating, damage may occur elsewhere in the
electrical system.
•
When open, protect the fuse boxes from dirt
and moisture. Presence of dirt and moisture in
the fuse boxes
can cause damage to the electrical system.
•
To avoid damage to the vehicle, remove the fuse
box covers carefully and reassemble them
correctly.
There are more fuses in the vehicle than
indicated in this chapter. These should only

The electrical system is under high voltage and
can cause electric shock, severe burns and
death!
•
Never touch the electrical wiring of the ignition
system.
Avoid short circuits in the electrical system.
