Puncture repair kit
283
When inflating the tyre, the inflation tube and the
air compressor may become hot.
Protect hands and skin from hot parts.
When the inflation hose or air compressor is
hot, do not place it on flammable materials.
Before storing the device, allow it to cool down.
If a minimum pressure of 2.0 bar (29 psi/200
kPa) cannot be reached, the neu- matic is too
damaged. In this case, the
sealant will not be able to seal the tyre. Do not
continue driving. Seek the assistance of
scaffolding personnel.
pecialised.
WARNING
If the damaged tyre cannot be sufficiently sealed
with the puncture repair kit, the tyre will lose air
while driving. This could result in tyre failure, loss
of control of the vehicle and accidents, serious
injury or death.
Do not continue driving if the tyre pressure is
1.3 bar or less (19 psi/130 kPa) after 10
minutes of driving.
Request the help of specialised personnel.
WARNING
NOTICE
Connect the 12 volt plugfig. 202
to a 12 volt vehicle power socket
→ p. 167.
Switch on the air compressor with the on/off
switch fig. 202 2 .
Let the compressor run until a pressure of 2.0
to 2.5 bar (29-36 psi/ 200-250 kPa) → is
reached
.
Do not let it run for more than
8
minutes.
Switch off the compressor.
If a pressure between 2.0 and 2.5 bar
(29-36
psi/200-250 kPa)
is not reached,
unscrew the
inflation tube from the tyre valve.
Drive the vehicle about 10 metres forwards or
backwards so that the sealant is well distributed
inside the tyre.
Screw the inflation tube of the air compressor
tightly back onto the tyre valve and repeat the
inflation operation.
If the required tyre pressure is still not reached,
the tyre is too badly damaged. In this case it is
not possible to seal the tyre with the puncture
repair kit. Do not continue driving. Seek the
assistance of qualified personnel → .
Unplug the air compressor and unscrew the
inflation tube from the tyre valve.
If a pressure of between 2.0 and 2.5 bar (29-36
psi/200-250 kPa) is reached, continue driving
immediately at 80 km/h (50 mph) maximum.
Check after 10 minutes of driving
Park the vehicle on a level, firm surface as
soon as it is safe to do so,
e.g. in a car park.
Screw the inflation tube → fig. 202 back on.
and check the tyre pressure on the tyre pressure
gauge → Fig. 202
- Ask the workshop to replace the damaged tyre.
Switch off the air compressor after a maximum of
8 minutes, otherwise it will overheat! Before
switching it on again, allow it to cool down for a
few minutes.
Equal to or less than 1,3 bar (19 psi/130 kPa):
Do not continue driving!
The
tyre
could not be
sufficiently
sealed
with the puncture repair
kit.
Seek the assistance of qualified
personnel .
Equal to or greater than 1,4 bar (20 psi/140 kPa):
Correct the tyre pressure to the correct value.
Drive carefully to the nearest specialist
workshop at a maximum speed of 80 km/h
(50 mph).
