NOTICE
— Accelerate with special care.
— Avoid braking and sudden manoeuvres.
Vehicles with manual gearbox:
— When starting off, clutch particularly gently.
Towed vehicle (rear)
— Make sure that the ignition is switched on so
that the steering wheel does not lock and so
that, if necessary, the direction indicators and
windscreen wipers can be used.
— The brake booster and power steering only
work when the engine is running. Otherwise, you
will have to press the brake pedal considerably
harder and you will also need more force to turn
the steering wheel.
— Release the electronic parking brake.
— Make sure that the tow rope is always taut.
— Disengage the gear or move the selector lever to
the N position.
The vehicle may only be towed if the state of
charge of the 12-volt battery is sufficient to
disengage the electronic parking brake and the
steering column lock. If the vehicle should lose
power or if there is a fault in the electrical system,
the engine must be started with the starting aid in
order to release the parking brake and deactivate
the steering column lock.

vehicle.

Mounting the front towing eye
— Remove the towing eye of the on-board tools
from the luggage compartment → page 226.
— Press on the side of the cover (arrow) to
remove it → fig. 163.
— Remove the cover forwards and leave it hanging
on the vehicle.
— Screw the towing eye into the housing by turning
it as far as possible against the direction of
rotation.
